 Crab Masala (ಏಡಿ,Jenji Sukka or Dhenji Ajadhina) Recipe




 


Ingredients:

- 1 kg fresh crab pieces

- 3 medium onions, chopped

- 2 tomatoes, chopped

- 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste

- 2 tsp coriander powder

- 1.5 tsp turmeric powder

- 3 tsp red chili powder

- 1 tsp garam masala powder

- 1 tsp cumin powder

- Salt, to taste

- 2 tbsp oil

- 1 tbsp ghee

- 1 cup fresh grated coconut

- 2 stems curry leaves

- 2 tsp tamarind paste

- 1/2-inch ginger

- 3 cloves garlic


Steps:

1. Clean and marinate the crab with 1 tsp turmeric and salt.

2. Heat oil, add 2 chopped onions, a few curry leaves, and tomatoes. Cook until they're soft.

3. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté well.

4. Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and tamarind paste. Mix well.

5. Add crab pieces, mix well, and cook covered for 10 minutes.

6. In another pan, heat oil, add 1/2 chopped onion, garlic cloves, and 1/2-inch ginger. Fry for 1 minute. Add grated coconut and a few curry leaves. Fry until it gets a nice aroma. You can add 1/2 tsp garam masala (optional). Make a coarse paste, mix well, and add it to the crab. Let it cook for 2 minutes.

7. After 2 minutes, add fresh coriander leaves.

8. In a kadai, heat ghee, add chopped onion, and fry until golden brown. Add curry leaves and mix well with the crab masala. Final touch! Now it's ready to serve.


Tips:

- Use a clay pot (vessel) for better taste and health benefits.

- Don't overcook the crab; cook for only 10-12 minutes.


Serve hot with neer dosa or boiled rice (Ganjji/Pressure-cooked rice)
